Several times a year, I prepare around 1000 gift bags for poorer Afghans to receive. These gifts are filled with hygenic items but also an audio/visual copy of the Good News.
It was around early November when my team and I planned on trying something a little different. Rather than going it alone, we would try to get local believers involved. The invitation for a local fellowship to get involved led to a huge response! Donations came flooding in and we soon found ourselves fully supported for twice our target goal. One woman donated over $1000. Another gave hundreds of toothbrushes. A school volunteered to help assemble the gifts. And of course, one man donated around 1000 cans of veggies.
In total, over 2000 bags will go out this holiday season. The other huge need has been for people to step up to help distribute the gifts. This too the Lord provided as a host of volunteers have stepped forward to join me in the task. I am only mere hours away from leading the first group into a poor Afghan area. Here we will bless many men with gifts that meet physical needs but also their spiritual.
I ask that during these next couple of weeks, you will lift up those who have not. Pray that they may receive these gifts joyfully and that the Good News will show them a hope and a future they can find no where else.
And to all of you, thank you for your continued support in prayer. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! God bless!
