Two months ago, we worked alongside several laborers. Recently, one of the believing brothers let me know that a recipient of a gift had come to a decision to follow Jesus. In his homeland, Hafeet had once considered following Christ and accepting His gift of salvation, but was afraid his family would kill him. In Afghanistan, Pakistan, and other Central Asian countries, for a Muslim to accept any other faith is punishable by beatings, family rejection, and often death.
But God does not forget His children. Ten years later, Hafeet would once again be challenged by the Truth. This time he embraced the Truth and his name is now written in the Book of Life!
After coming to faith, another brother told Hafeet he needed discipleship. His idea was to take him to another area and to connect him with several brothers to help Hafeet grow in understanding the Bible. The problem was, Hafeet works two jobs and felt certain his bosses would not give him time off. This brother taught Hafeet how to pray for time off. However, when he asked for time off, he was denied. Hafeet continued to pray for several days that his bosses would let him off so he could receive discipleship. At the end of his prayer time, Hafeet went to his bosses again and asked each one for the time off. Both bosses agreed to allow him a day off to travel! Praise the Lord!
This new brother is still in need of your prayers as he faces intense challenges. Though Hafeet is living abroad, he will still face rejection from his family and attempts to kill will likely happen. His room mates and neighbors are likely sources of persecution. Yet despite all this, Hafeet still desires to be discipled and to grow in his faith. Pray that God will begin a great work among the laborers through this man’s faithfulness.
